I think it was the size of the .50 round that impressed them the most. It's always interesting to see non-gun people react to EBRs (Evil Black Rifles)...I remember the first time I picked up an AR-15; even though I was very familiar with firearms, it still was surreal. Luckily these guys know who their prospective clients are (military), so none were anti-2nd amendment zealots.

I did take the following pic just for them. It's the prototype multi element array in the crosshairs...they've made it into their report cover to freak their project manager out, as he was very nervous about field testing their only (and hideously expensive) prototype outside of the lab.

..."oops, we seem to have a very large smoking hole through our radar"...

Now I've got a boner + I'm laughing my ass off

They ARE evil! They have BIG CLIPS! And a SHROUD! They have only one purpose... to kill people. No one NEEDS an evil black rifle with a shroud and a bayonet clip.

Perhaps not...but I WANT one :{)

Despite their inherent evilness, I have a few imprisoned in a steel vault. They are there for research purposes only. WHY are they evil? What is their motivation? Why does it want to kill me?

If you want to do research on your own evil black rifle, buy one quick... they are going to be BANNED again. Fortunately, there are strong protections in the Constitution from confiscation, so we enter the "Grandfathered" mode. If you are 18, it is a good thing to be a Granddaddy in this way.

That clown Obama seems to be planing to implement a new assault weapon ban.

http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/story?id=6960824&page=1

Look the bullshit being spun around:

Holder said that putting the ban back in place would not only be a positive move by the United States, it would help cut down on the flow of guns going across the border into Mexico, which is struggling with heavy violence among drug cartels along the border.

"Some recent Mexican army and police confrontations with drug cartels have resembled small-unit combat, with cartels employing automatic weapons and grenades," the warning said.

Wow, I never knew you guys were able to easily purchase grenades and full auto weapons  I'm just going on a limb here, but I don't think the majority of guns being illegally used in Mexico came from the US.

Oh, *WE* can't buy them. Just the fucking criminals, apparently.

Head for the hills, boys. They's a comin fer us.

Freedom. Let's think about what this means... Freedom is the ability to own firearms, mess with chemicals, construct pyrotechnic devices, any number of things (so long as you harm no one) that have long-since become grossly politically incorrect. Once an activity or object is frowned upon by a tyrannical majority or shrill minority, it's a short step to an outright ban, or regulation so onerous, they may as well be banned. Chip, chip, chip away.

Welcome to the new world of no freedoms anymore in the U.S.

The rugged, self-reliant individual that tamed this country is an anachronism. Now, it is "hip" and "cool" to rely upon a Nanny State for everything. Health care, housing, food, clothing. Why work? Why produce anything, or provide a valuable service when the Messiah will provide for all your needs?

The Russians are laughing at us. They rejected the Nanny state as a failed entity, and now we embrace it.

Are you referring to Communism? I'm a bit dim in the skull and just needed some clarification about that, sorry for going even more OT then usual.

My post was a rambler, no doubt. I'm not saying we're going communist, but we're heading more in the direction of a socialist system, while the ex-Soviet States are trying desperately to get away from that, because they know it doesn't work as well.

Think you could pick up a lower at a local gunshow? Or are there any preferred lowers for the ferret?

Any mil-spec AR-15 lower should work will work with the ferret. They make a steel lower themselves. It's nice, but $$$$. DPMS makes the only single-shot lower that I'm aware of. I got mine at a show, but they are rare to see at random. Look aroung - you'll find dealers. I googled it and this was the second hit:

Googled and found that same one. I like the look of the one he makes, but almost $800 is quite a bit. I'll have to call him up and see if I can just go out to the shop and check it out since I apparently live nearby :D

Looks like a rifle that would do a damn fine job on *any* varmint (2 or 4 legged, take your pick).

What caliber?

Nice!

Pricey ammo, but nice!

All I can afford to shoot these days is .17HMR (and even then I'm cutting back).

There's a picture or two from one of my outings on page one of this thread.

Thanks. I have often thought about getting my hands on a .17 HMR. Quick little round.

Definitely a very nice .308 rifle. I love that caliber for a rifle especially when the gun looks as sexy as that one does. .223 makes a loud bang but is a small bullet. When you start sending out the 7.62x51 .308 you know it is gonna do some damage on whatever type of target your using. When you think about it its kind of in the middle of an ak round (7.62x39) and a 30-06 round (7.62x63). Definitely a little pricey compared to .17hmr or .22lr
