Care package on the way!

but wow! that annual cost is very pricey. i have two servers located in Houston, Texas and Ohio data centers. if you can license purchase a copy of this forum software or redirect its network (bandwith and storage) then your more than welcome to have and install on one of my dell blade servers and have full admin. i pay just $75 a month for the space and unlimited bandwidth for 2 blade servers at the data center, unlimited fiber bandwidth and storage is unlimited. i run unreal tournament, battlefield, mincraft, and 2 websites, 2 forums, email domains and a redirect download server. if your not comfortable with trust, i can hook you up with the data center and they can rent you a space on their servers for about $30 a month with full admin control. Not trying to change anything but looking for a better solution in reducing the ridiculous overhead your are enduring. this forum softward doesnt eat up bandwidth and cpu as my game servers do and dont understand why they bombing you with corporate prices. thats way too much and insane. $200 a month, $2,400 annual cost??? something is definately wrong here my dear brothers.

Out-freaking-standing! Good on you joeyz! :D

Hearty thanks go to our newest donators, calebkessinger, joeyz, and Nickmaslo, your donations are very greatly appreciated!!!

And joeyz.... would you please PM me a contact link to that data center you mentioned, plus the *full* specs for the server you are renting at $70(??) a month?

I'll certainly take a look, and honest thanks for the heads up, but please be aware that only the Staff knows what we require for bandwidth, storage, etc, and those requirements are surprisingly high. Keep in mind that we need a full dedicated server with WHM/cPanel. Neither a VPS nor Shared hosting will work for us, trust me, we've been there and the results weren't satisfactory. :)

I should also point out that we have had *zero* unscheduled downtime in the (nearly) 2 years since we switched to the provider we have now, which is one of those things you don't really notice. Until things go badly. ;)

Sorry for the delay, wasnt tracking this post. I recommend the data center in detroit, michigan. That will centrally locate you mid america from canada to mexico and east to west coast, no latency, even pings. They hardly ever go down either, the data center runs services for many companies and banks so thats critical. Will pm you the information right away. For maximum flexibility, i have my own server there. I built it and sent it there, raid configuration and ssd drives, windows server. This gives me max flexibility to run as many websites, email services and unlimited storages by adding more drives. They basically recieve your box or blade server, stick it in the rack, fire it up, assigned ip and send you login infirmation. From there, you longin with remote pc or iphone with full admin like your home desktop. Unlimited potential if you want to go that route.

Not only you can run a forum like this but you can establish other business too. For an example, woodyrocks has its domain but paying someone for email services etc. you can setup things like this and redirect the service to your server and provide services to anyone. This is how all these web hosting people do it. If they dont have a data center, they put machines there and establish web hosting to others. Windows enterprise server will allow you to setup all kinds of service that you can host and sell. Even cloud.

I guess what i trying to say is that if your really into it, the server can pay for itself. If you wanted, you could host hundreds of websites. All a person or you do is pay for the domain and route to your server. This is how all those spam and porn idiots get away with spam email and fake websites as marketing lol

For an example... You regustered amatuerpyro.com through IP.Board or you did it yourself. If you had your own server and get this forum license from ip board or vbullentin etc, you can install the forum application and reroute the domain name to your new ip server instead of ip.board ip address. The bulletin board type license is around $250. Some people with reliable internet even run a machine from their homes with a registerd domain and a licensed forum software. All this internet stuff is in the mind. Its a machine sitting somewhere running software over a shared network. Another example... From home, you can register a domain name www.pyrouniversity.com, .net .edu, etc and assign it a ip address in your router, create a webpage on pc and everyone will hit it. Just an example on how the services can work.

Damn! Stuck on 78%! keep in mind that this site is a not-for-profit site, so reaching 100% ain't makin' anybody rich. If I see the number move by tomorrow I'll go another 50 bucks too. We can do this.

OM, I was called out on my dare right away the same day, so the stepping up already happened. Damn ;) The pink banner is pretty big though, isn't it? The thing about donating to a site like this is that the benefits have for the most part already been enjoyed for free. It's not like there's anything to lose.
