Bobosan Posted August 22, 2014 Share Posted August 22, 2014 Pex, Do you have access to a digital caliper or micrometer? If not, drill a hole in some hard material like aluminum and make the hole the same diameter as you want your spindle. You can use this hole in the aluminum piece as a makeshift guide to test "fit" the spindle as you file it down starting at the tip. It takes some patience. We all have a natural tendency to bear down on the file right where the spindle meets the cone which causes a narrow section. Try Mr.B's suggestion of ramming with wheat flower first.
