The tissue paper is used to separate the burst from the stars.

Ah ok no probs, it just looked like it was there for some other purpose because normally the stars are loaded then the tissue paper with the burst in it.

How long does a shell of this size take to complete?

The most time involved is star drying and burst drying time. Will let you know how long it takes to complete.

When its complete.

Have you checked the stars for their burn time? Most of the time I use hemi size/10 is the size of the stars, so 30mm in this case. But yours are only 23mm? Do you still have to prime them, or does this rule not apply anymore when you're starting to make bigger shell's? Biggest one I've made so far is 6'' so I can't say for sure..

Thanks for the info! Can you please post more pics up of the progress of the shell being built? I find pics of the construction process very helpful :D

And what kind of stars will be in this shell?

Explosive Cork I am just going on what Dr. Shimizu recommends for star size for a 12" shell.

Looks good so far BJV. By the time your done I imagine that thing will weigh about 20-22 pounds depending on what stars you stuff in it. I'm working on another 12 myself right now. I like working on bigger shells it just seems easier on my half broke meat hooks! Will you be hand pasting it or do you have a WASP or other shell pasting machine? I bought a WASP after I started hand pasting 8's so I couldn't imagine doing a 12"er.

Awsome stuff, I'm verry curious about its performance :)

Do you have some details about the compositions?

Just curious, how did you transfer the fire from the timefuse into the tube? crossmatched?

Looking good :). No booster?

When are you going to shoot it?

No Booster, the inter petal 6" I used rice hulls with hot bp 5:1

The main bursting charge is on cotton seed with hot bp 1:1

I will shoot this shell Sept 8th or 9th and have video.
