I never experienced an issue with it, I believe uncoated Al has a better effect but a smaller lifetime and will not look as satisfying after a year as when you first made them.

If I am not mistaken, the coating is a byproduct of manufacturing it, so it does not combust when opened after milling it because it can be pyrophoric. I may be wrong about that though.

I purchased uncoated 225 Mesh Atomized, 425 Mesh Atomized, and 1625 Mesh Atomized. I also have 200-325 Mesh Flake Al that did not work so well for me, but was because I did not make the stars correctly. I also have Alcoa 120 Al, which I haven't tried yet as I recently purchased it, but I am looking forward to using it. For the others, they all work phenomenal and as long as you coat with Boric Acid dissolved in your solvent, you should be fine.
