Visco fuse quality

In the past I had a spool of 2mm Visco, obviously chinese, wich I was not happy with.

I never had any failures, but this stuff breaks IMHO to easily when bent. When you bend it many times the powder rinses out. I don't like that.

Now, in europe a polish vendor offers this stuff:

"This fuse is made of a different technique than the common Visco which contains string inside. Our product consists of 5 paper fuses, double-wrapped by the string and carefully coated with nitrocellulose lacquer. This makes it totally unbreakable!"

Totally enbreakable - sounds nice.

How does this fuse behave in general, did someone here has made some experience with it?

I have 100m of this fuse I was sent as a sample by pyrogarage, it is very good, better than any Visco I have seen. I've tried bending and pulling it and I must say it is far stronger than it looks.

The question I ask is,

'What is it I look for in a good fuse?'

1. A high quality product that can be bent and twisted and will still perform, whatever the price.

2. A cheap fuse that doesn't fail to ignite whatever I use it with.

Thanks for your opinion.

Well, there are some applications where I want to use only the best there is.

I have nothing particular in my mind. Normally I use cheap stuff off course.

Anybody else?

I have found a few applications where visco broke due to bending it around a sharp corner or feeding it through a hole in a tube. I think this would be a fantastic solution for that issue. I cant wait to see it in the US soon.

This far I have only made stuff that I light manually. I have 3mm and 2mm Visco of a relatively cheap sort. The 2mm is a bit weak, and my spool is damaged on a couple of spots, but this far it hasn't failed.

I'll probably test Pyrogarage later this year. Right now I have to give priority to boring but necessary stuff like repairing my car etc. *Sigh*
