Potassiumchlorate
Update: I still have a hard time to decide whether or not I shall make AP blues. I'm trying this composition, that hst45 used in a 3": Ammonium perchlorate 68Copper(II)oxide 17Hexamine 15 He made cut stars, using shellac solution as a binder. I don't have a frame for cutting, and I prefer my stars rolled or pumped. I first tried pumped stars with +5% NC-lacquer with 20% NC by weight. They wouldn't consolidate. Then I tried +7% pulverized shellac, isopropanol as solvent. They were hard to consolidate, though, and they are too brittle. I can crush them with my fingers. Too bad, because the colour is wonderful, like Forget-me-not. Could the hexamine be the component to blame here? I usually have no problems with these methods. Potassiumchlorate
Update again: my hexamine burns very good with ammonium perchlorate, hygroscopic or not. It does not burn good with barium chlorate and not even with potassium perchlorate with +5% potassium dichromate. It seems like it has deteriorated just in a few months.
