Essohbe
Does anyone know burn temperatures for an aluminum and sulfur mix - vs - a chlorate and sugar mix?
NightHawkInLight
Temperature is dependent on a number of things and can't be predicted so easily. You can probably find the energy released by the first reaction by looking up the enthalpy of formation for aluminium sulfide. The reaction between chlorate and sugar is much more complex and would be more difficult to determine.
Mumbles
A stoichiometric mix of chlorate and sugar* is no more difficult than aluminum and sulfur. * - you just have to be able to figure out the ratios
