PyroAce
Are there any chemicals we use in this pyro hobby that can effect Plastic? I ask this as I store a number of chemicals in Tuppaware and other various plastic containers even the plastic containers with plastic lids you get from takeaway shops, can these containers be effected by the chemicals and eat away at the plastic? The only one that comes to mind is Acetone, but even Acetone can handle plastic, it's more rubber that's effected by Acetone.
Bangkokpyro
Most of the solvents used in pyro will affect plastic with the exception of IPA. In time Acetone will completely dissolve some kinds of plastic and soften most. Polypropylene has good resistance to Acetone.Acetone and Xylene are incompatable with Neoprene-Nitrile-ABS-PVC-Vinyl Ester-CPVC to name just a few. There is a good compatability chart to be found on Harrington Plastics website that lists most of the common solvent and plastic types
PyroAce
Thanks Bangkokpyro! So basically most (if not all) dry powdered pyro chemicals are safe to store in plastic containers.
