mabuse00 Posted May 8, 2011 Share Posted May 8, 2011 Hi, i just did some experiments with lead thermite and KClO4 based silver stars.Red thermite works fine, i used pure silicon. People often suggest ferro-silicon instead. Silicon burns better and the melting point of SiO2 is a little higher than these of any oxidation states of iron. So whats the advantage of ferro-silicon?
