How to make lift with a Morter and Pestle!

So I didn't have good results with the lift I was making with

my mortar and pestle(Next year I'll be building a ball mill).

Well I followed this youtube video and got my BP to burn about as fast.

Basically mill KNO3 wet with 90% or so alcohol,

then give that around 10 to 15 minutes,

then set aside, scrape it out into a cup with a spoon,

repeat for everything else, then combine and grind that for 10 minutes..

I spent around 20 minutes for 10 grams in my 4 inch $15 mortar and pestle

(shipping constituted $9 to Hawaii),

although if I do more I'd probably get more like 30 grams but I've been experimenting with small batches and am trying to save my few hundred grams of chemicals for actual non test fireworks.

I'm absolutely going to build a ball mill but for now to get my feet wet this

works and hopefully others who are getting into the hobby,

plus it's safer than an electric coffee grinder.

Here is a test,

1 inch diameter 5 inch tall tube full of ultra powdery(using 300 grit paper with a german sanding machine) Epa wood dust(like 30 grams worth, can't pack it in since it clods from being oily),

pinch of FE TI on the 5 grams of lift(too much lift but I just decided to use what I had left).

No I'm not going to do shells nor would I use bamboo for anything that could flower pot.

Well it's a lot of work, like jello arms after 100 grams with my 4 inch one.

Otherwise go for it and when you can buy a ball mill.

I gave this mortar and pestle as a present to a friend long time ago, I didn't need this "corn maker" anymore :D .

It works though, but I will recommend it only to beginners.

Yes it does !

I'm definitely going to be building one and am already searching for a suitable motor,

bearings and such.
