Pancakes

Mmmk, so I was talking to swany this morning when I got hungry, so I made tutorial:

Pancakes.

You will need:

1 cup plain flour

1-1/4 cup milk

1 Egg

Sprinkle of salt

Little bit of butter

Maple syrup/maple flavored syrup.

Bowl

A whisk

A pan

An appetite

Here is the majority of the things you need:

First step is to put the flour, salt, egg and milk in the bowl and mix well untill it's not lumpy anymore. So it looks like this:

Then you need to melt the butter to coat your pan, on a medium heat, like this:

Then you ladel out some pancake mix onto the pan:

See those bubbles on the surface? Thats how you know when to flip it, because the other side will look like this:

Cook the other side for about the same time till it's the same colour.

It is a good idea to put your oven on to 100 degrees C so you can keep them hot while cooking the rest:

Now enjoy your pancakes like this:

Enjoy, see, I have a life!

Love you all,

Enjoy pancakes!

Cheeky blighter, you need a spanking.

But what better way to spend some time while your pyro is drying? It's been a long time since I've had pancakes. I usually have them with lemon juice and castor sugar though.

Here's a hint: For savoury pancakes, cook one side of the pancake while you grate some cheese on the batter side, then cook as usual (non-stick pan is recommended). You may wish to rethink your choice of syrup. :)

Wow what a suprise! I'm trying to think of a pyro device that is called a pancake just to find out it is really a "pancake". It's sunday morning and I will be having some soon.

Nice tutorial.

try eating them estonian style, smear jam(not jelly type, preferrably homemade or even better fresh crushed strawberries with sugar) over one pancake, roll it up and eat.

I allmost forgot, but when I saw this section again I got all hungry again :-)

I used my own recipe because of the lack of IS measurements:

200 grams flour

4 eggs

30 grams sugar

1 pack of vanilla sugar (15 grams iirc)

500 ml milk

5 ml oil

Allmost good to turn:

A macro picture of previously mentioned bubbles:

http://ci.cambridge.md.us/brainfever/pics/pancake/macro_bubbles.jpg

When the edges turn brown, you'll know it's time to flip them:

Flipped on it's back, nice brown:

First add sugar or other dressing to your liking:

Roll up, grab and stuff in mounth ^_^

Now what to do when you can't finish a whole pancake with what you have left?

Those look more like crepes than pancakes, but they look damn good whatever they are.

Umm... what is "vanilla sugar"? That name isnt used here in the US (I've never heard it, anway).

It's about what it sounds like. Vanilla flavored sugar. In the US we use vanilla extract. 1 teaspoon is equal to one packet of vanilla sugar. 1 1/2 teaspoons is a packet of vanilla sugar.

A quick googling indicates that making it is pretty simple. Add sugar to an airtight container. Add 1-2 split vanilla beans and bury in the sugar. Let sit for at least a week. Voila you have vanilla sugar. They also said you can reuse the same vanilla beans for upwards of 6mo to a year. After that, you can make custard from them.

This was the first I had heard of it too, Frankly, it sounds delicious.

I thought i'd post this, because it tasted great!

I was reading this and it sparked an interest, and I thought I'd spice mine up a little with a personal touch. So I rummaged around in my cupboards and here's the recipe I came up with.

cocoa and brown sugar pancakes;

reagents:

1 cup of flour

1/4 cup of hot chocolate powder or cocoa powder

1 cup of milk

2 teaspoons of baking powder

2 tablespoons of brown sugar

1 teaspoon of vanilla extract

1 egg

half teaspoon of salt

Direactions:

Add your flour, cocoa, baking powder, brown sugar and salt into a medium sized mixing bowl. Use a whisk to mix these togeather thoroughly. Now add your egg and mix until doughy. Next add your milk and vanilla extract and stir until the mixture is unfirom and smoothe.

Heat your pan for a few minutes on medium heat and spray with a coating of cooking spray or coat the pan with melted butter. (i prefer the spray, it's a little less messy, and eaiser).

Pour some of the mixture into the pan and follow the directions that others have posted, by letting it cook until bubbles are forming on the top side of the pancake. let it sit a little longer, then flip it and let it finish cooking the other side.

Make sure you coat the pan after each pancake when using the spray.

Enjoy!
