durfeedog
Does any body know what would hapen if you put (NH4)2S04 + NAOH in a distilation setup and applied mild heat collecting the vapors in dry ice. I lost my lab gear so I can't try it..
Mumbles
You would get liquid ammonia and sodium sulfate. Possibly a bit of solid ammonia depending on how much dry ice you have cooling it. Any particular reason you ask?
asilentbob
Keep in mind that you would have to dry it very very very well if you intended to store it in a lecture bottle or something for later use. "The problem isn't the need for dry ice, its what happens if you run out."Some guy from RS i can't remember. I have had mild interest in doing this, but i don't have that many uses for NH3 right now. DeAdFX
Find an industrial fridge or refrigeration unit in a dump yard. Modify it so you can reduce the temperature to around -40C. Cool some ethanol or low melting point eutectic of water and use this as your cooling fluid. Water would be preferable as it can soak up a lot of energy in the liquid state without increasing temperature significantly.
