schroedinger
Does anyone have experience with HDPE as a ball mill drum?I was thinking about making the drum up from a pipe, sealing one permanently with a disc cut from a bord of HDPE and one side, should be able to accept the same disc, which will be hold in place by a bar which gets secured by two poles, in the wall of the pipe. The two big questions now are, how to fix the permanent lid, welding, epoxy? And which would be the best way to make the changeable lid airtight? Shadowcat1969
There really isn't an effective room temp solvent/cement for HDPE, that I know of. I'd stick with a plastic welder, if you plan on pursuing this. My suggestion is just to go with a 6" PVC jar of specs that can be found all over APC and similar forums. Construction will be much easier.
