so I started to make one of these. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y3PX74gr9RM. I decided I would build it out of pvc sch 40. air chamber is a 3 foot piece of 3". with 3" end cap that's been drilled and tapped to accept a air gauge and valve stem. the other end has a 3" to 2" reducer and two 90 elbows the last elbow has a 2" to 1" thread bushing.then a closed 1" nipple to a 1" modified sprinkler valve to 1" closed nipple to a 6foot 2" barrel with a 2" to 1" threaded bushing. so far it shoots nicely it will send a spud pretty far with 50 psi. I also needed a 12v air pump. I picked up the pump at harbor freight and it will indeed pump the gun to 100 psi.http://www.harborfreight.com/12v-100-psi-high-volume-air-compressor-69284.html . now I just need to make a mold to freeze my bait in. Ah sturgeon fishing the things you do to go after big fish.

the one in the video is made of welded AL. But as I figure it spun guns have been made out of pvc pipe since before I was born. I also have a combustion spud gun but due to Laws there not legal but one that's pneumatic is legal to use. (also legal in California) so to make it easy on me ill use air. also the one in the video cost 899.00 and I cant see paying that much for one. I can make a welded AL one for much cheaper.

The welded AL should be safer than PVC for sure.

Really cool idea, but how in the world do you not get a snag every time while reeling in that much line?! By that, I mean the process of dragging your lure over so much distance. You're almost guaranteed to snag on some piece of structure.

in the ocean its not too much of a problem in sand. where I fish its for sturgeon and we expect to lose the weight. so about every time I cast I lose 8 to 32oz's ow weight. also the fish are pretty big and lift the weight up. its kinda of a expensive fish to go after. also we have to use barbless hooks, sliders, beads and weight has to be a lower rated lb line then the main line. they don't want ghost lines out in the water. Oh and did I say after all this its catch and release only and cant remove them from the water.
