Mumbles Posted May 24, 2014 Share Posted May 24, 2014 I will say that it does make things rather difficult to keep track of when doing these sort of private messaging auctions. Mixing in e-mails or proxy bids would further complicate things. I'd imagine that anyone offering items on fireworking has the option to accept bids via alternative means. That should be on a person by person basis though. Having been involved in one of these before I can assure you that things are messy and difficult to keep track of. I was only collecting the money in that case, not even dealing with keeping track of bids and who won or shipping. I was going to do something like this here. Sell a few things to raise a little money for Dave. I unfortunately do not have the money to help out much, but I do have a lot of supplies sitting around not being used. I haven't gotten the chance to get home yet to pack things up though. I encourage anyone to help out in whatever way they can. Having been through some of what Dave is currently I assure you that things are difficult. The support of this community is amazing and inspiring. hindsight Posted May 24, 2014 Share Posted May 24, 2014 Just trying to keep up as a spectator on the Fireworking auction is overwhelming. Cannot imagine trying to orchestrate the bidding, maintain the tallies/accounting of offerings, constantly having to update posting the bids and coordinate shipping the products. What a noble nightmare. It is an indicator of how much goodwill exists in the pyro community for a worthy member.Thank you, Mumbles, for the support for Dave on this forum, also. We are still getting the last of the bills and it looks as if we are on our way to getting back on our feet. You bet your sweet petunia that if someone else gets hurt, I will be on the front line pulling something together like this for them. Thanks all! He's probably going to be finishing off his business acquisition any time now, and I'm sure with his help promoting we will close the gap. At least that's what I'm hoping.
