Viking´s NYE Shells

VikingPyrotechnics

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

in this thread I will post by and by my shells that we shot on New Year's Eve. (About 15 shells and rockets 7) First comes a 6 "Stutata. Unfortunately selecting the first timing too long. That is why it is too high for my taste. But in general I am quite satisfied :D

Very close timings on the inserts ( intricci ?)

I agree with you on the mother shell timing being long but not a bad thing by no means.

Which comp did you chose for the shells? How are they fused?

I've been looking forward to your stuff :)

Thank you Dan,

for the inserts i used TT+10% Fe-Ti.... 10x10mm cut stars. I fused them with bickford fuse.

5" Blue Peony

Awesome shells.

That blue peony was perfect! What size stars did you use in the blue shell?

The beraq shell was amazing aswell.

Great Job.

nice shell! (first one) I would imagine glueing some stars/comets to the inserts would make an even bigger effect, becouse it would look nice after first explosion, and when people will start thinking it over, bam, much bigger show.

all the other shells were also great!

Very nice work on those shells. Seems you are taking fredhappys suggestions more serious ;)

That's really great work viking, very nice stuff! If you dont mind me asking, what kind of burst were you using in these? Ratios, carriers, FP, etc.. Like they said the blue peony was perfect!

Are you using timefuse on everything(inserts and shell)?

I like it vp, a fast nozzled motor, takes off like my nzless ( which could do with more power) milling fuel?

nice timing on the inserts and the stars match the reports very nice... But are you telling me that you just put stars on a loaded tube (14mm od) and pasted it in.

If so I'm about to save on fuse and experiment some more :)

This is the one I wanted to see most from the pre fire :) I thought the stars were placed on top of fuse... Or the timing would be pants. I could see that the delays were not pressed or rammed by the protrusion.

I have plastic caps on both sides. In one side I stabbed a hole and 2 strands of Black Match put into it. Then I stray a few crumbs 4FA BP arround the Black Match. Then the star and you're done. :)

That blue peony is a winner, what composition did you use?

Thanks vp, its nice to see different methods.

Did you press the stars? Weight and density have to be close for good timing.

This will save me some fuse and adapting work :)

Where did you get the blue wrapped tubes, I lost them.

Yes, i press all my stars. win39 is a very good comp for timing inserts. with other comps i had not that good timing.

the blue tubes i get here from germany , dan.

Here is another shell from NYE. A 3" shell with silver tailed green stars and an hand rolled BS ( italian stayle )
Worked pretty good i think :D

Looks nice, i like the stars leaving a tail after the colour burned out.

Perfect timing on the bottom shot :) not too much suspense.

I like the lift aswell, it's been over a year since I fired a shell :(

You and I clearly have different opinion on perfect timing for a bottom shot. My perfect timing is when it's about 10 feet above the earth. Bonus points for closer.

Bottomshot just 3.5 m above ground? Sounds scarry to me. Would be fine if you got a proper firing area with nothing more in it.

But i would fear that many people would allready hit houses or sheds near by.

If you wan't an explosion close to the bottom, you always could use a hang man (maybe also interesting to fake a bottom shot)

If you can hit houses and sheds, you have no business firing any aerial homemade pyro there. Responsibility is paramount in this hobby.

As you know mum i have mixed and varied opinions :) I like them in the air right after the effect has finished. Just when the second break should be.

More breaks and I don't mind them getting lower.

It's personal taste but I can see the skill and confidence in having them low to the ground.
