Don't have actual pics of the two below, but they look nearly identical to these 1-1/4" bag-mines, just shorter and fatter...

The pistol primers are nice... I'd like to see some stars made with shotgun shell primers, I set one off once in a vice with a punch (very foolish!) and it was very, very loud. The primer is actually powerful enough to push the shotshell load out (at about 100 fps) with no powder!

I liked them a lot but on the first one the one you said was red, white, and blue I personly saw no blue made it was just me but I like the bright red that was very pretty.

There was blue just not very deep. If you take a look at the streamers in the beginning, their heads are blue.

I agree...the blue was very faint and burnt much faster than the Strontium stars. I was trying various formulas in those mines. That's what you get with Potassium Perchlorate based blues...they look ok by themselves, but unless you're using a matched color system (like Veline's), the intensities of the colors really show - Ruby Red is hugely bright, saturated, and has great hang time in small stars (50% SrNO3 + MgAl fuel and tons of Parlon), Shimizu's Blue #1 just can't stand up to it side by side. Metal fuels in blues can bring up the light output, but wash the color even more.

 

An AP based blue is probably the only one that could be used in proximity with the Ruby Red / Emerald Green formulas. In other words, I'm still looking...

I just made up a new batch of blue from this site: http://www.geocities.com/picricsalt/compositions.htm

It has pretty good color.

 

 

I used his formula

(ammonium) Perchlorate 62%

copper (II) oxide black 15%

hexamine 13%

saran resin 10%

dextrin +4%

 

beautiful blue! i actually substituted red gum for the dextrin, as I like the alcohol based binder better.

 

That's all assuming you have AP on hand.

The picture is of a pile of 1-1/4" mines that were used to test various color compositions and primes the same night as the 2" mines. I shot video of all of them, but the tests certainly weren't worth posting. I neglected to take pictures of the 2" mines, so I posted the smaller ones as a pre-firing pic.
