Nice rocket! How did you do it? I admit that I´m almost ignorant in rocketry, from there my dumb question: Is your Red Strobe Comp IN the rocket and works after the whistle mix burns out?

Or works it in a seperate device?

Very nice rocket, nice big bang at the end. How big was it?

The bang was 20 grams of flash, just filling up the rest of the tube over the delay. The red strobe comp was pressed into the rocket motor. My tooling has a 4.5" spindle, I pressed whistle the first 3" and red strobe the rest of the way. I'm going to press my next rocket in the reverse of that, with the red strobe at the bottom and the whistle at the top. The strobe burns much slower than the whstle, so the rocket should get much longer thruxt duration, and probably a noticeably different sound. When I get it in the air I will get the vid on the board.

Thanks llamazares happy new year to you as well! I think I have the formula posted in the pyrotechnic compositions thread:

Ammonium Perchlorate 60

Magnesium 100 mesh 25

Strontium Sulfate 15

Potassium Dichromate 5

Bind with NC Laquer, thin with Acetone

I worked my way down to 100 mesh trying to get the speed I liked in the strobing effect.

Just a thought - are you sure it's safe to press Ammonium Perchlorate and Chlorate compositions in contact with each other? Just wanted to check as alarm bells ring in my head when I hear AP and Chlorate in the same sentance!

For the record I'm not sure at all that it is safe. But seeing as how I was going to be shooting the rocket that night I went ahead and did it anyways. I never have the stuff I make sitting on the shelf past the next nightfall.... I do think I read somewhere that AP and Chlorate don't get along, good catch! I'll look it up in OFCA's chemical book. Also when working with Potassium Dichromate, if at all possible try and convince someone else to handle it for you! Seriousely though, where a mask and gloves, nasty nasty stuff.
