eb11 Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 i am wondering what you guys have for an idea on the amount of wraps i should do on a 2 inch canister shell. i currentlly do 2 turns of 70 lbs kraft paper then when the shell is filled i spike it with hemp string then do 2 more wraps of 70 lbs kraft looking for any input tring to figure out the flower pot problems i had this weekend. when shell is finished it is 4 inches long i used 4fbp for lift
Mumbles Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 I'm not sure what to tell you, I do things pretty similar to you. Each casing (1.75" former) gets 2 turns of manilla file folder paper as a liner and two turns of 70lb kraft. After the shell is filled and spiked, I use 2 turns of 30lb kraft as the paste wrap. I've never had one flower pot so I'm not sure where the issue is. You may want to try a thinner paper for the paste wrap. The thicker stuff has a harder time laying down on small shells. It's possible you got an air pocket or gap or something if everything didn't lay down nicely.
eb11 Posted August 21, 2012 Author Posted August 21, 2012 thanks mumbles my thinking is that the time fuse blew into the shell was just wondering if i had enough wraps or not. the shell i am building now i have taken time on the time fuse area will let you know in about a week when i can fire this 1
viziers Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 (edited) I may be wrong but even on small can shells you would want the fuse on top of the can and not on the bottom where the lift charge is (at least that is how I read it that you have it in the lift charge?) vizi Edited August 22, 2012 by viziers
dan999ification Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 much the same but sometimes use a spiral wound tube as a liner, gives very strong shells, i shoot 40mm and 3 inch, always take time on sealing the fuse in and top fusing has made sure i see no flowerpots. Are the shells properly filled? They may be crushing in the gun and allowing fire in, if its not the fusing or the pasting. Dan.
