I'm using homemade hemies, homemade time fuse, homemade stars and powder.

My time fuse is invisible in the sky, wich makes a surprise effect at the explosion time.

As i'm using a mortar with a great lenght (about 70 cm), with 10% lift charge, i'm reaching hight altitudes, superior to 100 meters!

Hope you enjoy!

Interesting looking burst charge you have there, what is it?

It is Corned and Glazed Black Powder.

It's not the best breaking charge for this size of shell, but it is a batch i want burn off.

The stars are D1 Glitter, 1 cm long, burning rate about 1 second.

For the hemies, i make them following the steps you can see in this image:

Remember that i put some glue between the pieces of paper before pressing to make a rigid casing.

Nice :)

What are these metallic chunks in your stars, are these drill turnigs?

The metallic chunks are aluminium flakes, as i can't get spherical aluminium for the D1 Glitter.

They're purrrdy, I'd stick them in a glass jar on the shelf and stare at them.

When I used to make 3" hemis, I had found some plastic balls at Hobby Lobby that were about the right size for a former. I would wrap 2" masking tape around it on 3 axis's with the sticky side out. Then I would cut random strips of paper, smear diluted white glue all over them and randomly paste them onto the ball. After I had put enough paper on, I would cut around the ball with a razor blade, and make an alignment mark and pop them off the ball to dry. The tape allowed it to have a non stick surface against the ball. After the hemis dried, you could peel the tape out of the inside easily.

But they are large... I can get any size of spherical stuff, but the biggest flakes are 325mesh. Your stuff must be MUCH larger...
