Polumna
hi dudes, Dont worry, It is NOT a flashpowder thread. I want to know wether there is a risk of ramming ramming mixtures which contain Iron-filling for a golden glitter-effect(fountains). I´m a little bit scared that the mix ture can explode, because iron+iron will produce sparks.I think it would be a great hlep. This is my mixture 80 BP19%iron1% Al-dust (BP isn´t homemade, because i´ve got no kno3 and sulfur but around 1kiloof airfloat charcoal dust and i´m not allowed to mix my own BP(because of my parents and the law) Thanks everyone polumna
justanotherpyro
There is always a chance that ramming blackpowder can cause it to ignite. A former member lost a few fingers when this happened to him, so its definately a real possibility. If you are concerned about the iron causing ignition then ram with a wood dowel and take the necessary precautions like using a blast shield and using a press instead of ramming. Mumbles
Thugsta was using a wood dowel BTW. My advice is this. If you are truely concerned, don't ram it. Press it if you must produce Fe sparking devices. I am personally alright with ramming it. I personally don't find it to be a huge risk. The only things I ram are small drivers or fountains though. Your formula has signifigantly higher Fe than I use though. That mix won't glitter BTW.
