If it leaves any white stuff, add more charcoal. Problem is you need to experiment for each type of charcoal and even for each batch (because wood is different, even 2 pieces of wood from the same tree varies by 100%). The standard recipe is a good starting point, assuming reasonably fast charcoal is used. We can use the normal chemical stoiciometric ratio which is very close to 75:15:10 but since charcoal isn't all carbon, it's hard to say. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
