taiwanluthiers Posted June 8, 2012 Posted June 8, 2012 Does anyone know if the NC lacquer sold by various pyro suppliers are the same as the kind used for wood finishing? I have some NC lacquer that I use to refinish musical instruments and was wondering if that can be used in pyrotechnic devices.

Generally, all NCL has other non-volatile ingredients and some have more then others. I received some samples of four different NCLs from a chemical manufacturer and all do about the same as a binder. I suggest that you make a small batch and see for yourself. -dag
