(a common silicone used for sealing photo cells to generate electricity) it was suggested as a binder for an illumination flare in 1968 based on magnesium / sodium nitrate composition. it should also protect the maganesium quite well from moisture. maybe useful instead of pban / htpb in apcp rocketry ? anyone used it ? daveSILICON sodium nitrate flare.pdf Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
oldguy Posted March 27, 2012 Share Posted March 27, 2012 I have not, but GE Silicone II (GE280 and GE5000) is said to work & is not a 2 part mix.I bought a couple tubes @ a local hardware store & intend to try it as a binder.
