Do I need to take firewood?? or is there a community campfire? Im taking the camper.

Ive never been to a fireworks get together yet, so I have many questions. If I want to press some rockets while im there do I need to bring a "shelter" and table and such? Does my press have to have a shield on it? Does my battery and press pump have to be enclosed in a tote or something? (should be already  ) Will there be any vendors? If I come up on Thu eve does anyone need some help with setting up and such Fri AM?? Not too early I hope

What do I have to have to shoot?? safety glasses A bump hat?? or do i have to have a class first sometime??

I may possibly have a small hobby fireworks press for sale there??? I haven't decided if i should keep it yet.

I suppose I need to make a batch of bp and whistle and strobe and Try to press a rocket or three a night until then.

How may people will be there??

Thats enough rambling for now.

Yes there will be vendors there.

There will be a manufacturing area, PM Mike B your questions about that. You will need your own supplies, you can probably rent a table, but that's another good question for Mike.

HPA requires that shooters wear a hard hat and safety glasses. Long cotton pants, long sleeve cotton shirt, and hearing protection are highly recommend. I doubt I will wear full turnouts like I do when I shoot shows, but I will probably wear jeans, a welding jacket, and a hard hat with ear muffs

At most pyro shoots there are a few campfires with groups sharing them. Bring a chair, some drinks and snacks to share and enjoy the fun. You can bring firewood, please check your county for restrictions due to the ash borer.

Just to be clear, this isn't happening until middle of September correct? Anyone got a link to more info? I've been planning on going but have put off getting the details sorted out. I'm terrible at planning ahead - Which usually helps me keep an open schedule ;)

Tri State is September 16-17 at the PRA Airport in Mentone, IN. Go to http://www.heartlandpyro.org for more information and to download a registration form.

The site is incredible. It is a private airport in the middle of corn fields. There's showers, restrooms, and hookups for camping. Here's a video of a shoot HPA did for the PRA Convention a few weeks ago. You should get a good feel for the venue.

4 1/2hr drive? I've done worse for less. Unless I have a catastrophic breakdown at work that weekend I should be there.

I'm sure no one would mind if you just cooked in Mentone.

Heh... I'd hope not. But there's 20K in prize money at Silver Lake, and we scored $1500 of it last year... Sigh..I have become a food whore.

  • 2 weeks later...

Something has come up for the last 3 years but I'm most assuredly attending this year.

I'll also be providing free delivery for any item in my store.

If you want your order delivered, just enter the coupon code MFF at checkout and the shipping cost will be removed. ($20) minimum order)

I also have a section for bulk purchase discounts. With discount pricing and no shipping, you can use the savings to cover your registration fees. It's almost like being paid to attend! :)

Cold beer sounds good. You might want to bring a little extra cash too. Several sponsors of this event have been very generous and there will be some nice items in our auction and raffle. Scott at Cobra donated one of their new wireless firing systems, Dewey donated one too. Mumpyro provided a set of ten star sizing screens. We also have tooling from Wolters and Firesmith, nept tubes from Jim Biersach, chemicals from UBpyro and Phil Summers, fireworks, and more. Somebody is going to walk away with some good deals.

I would encourage you to pre-register. For registration information please visit our website

Do spectators need to be per-registered or anything like that? I asked a few friends & family members if they were interested in tagging along with me, and of course they all said "Maybe."

I plan on making the drive bright & early Saturday morning, or possibly Friday evening after work if nobody is tagging along.

I've been putting off packing. I have tools and chems boxed up and ready to go, but I still need to cut tubes, finish building my rocket rack, mill some individual chems, make some gerbs, and find a table that will fit in my car to borrow. If I have time once all that is done, I need to build some racks for a few mortars that are going in the auction.

So much to do, and I'm probably not going to get it all done.

Nate, I never seem to be caught up either. I plan to strap my shells on top of my truck and let them dry on the way there.

Dog, firewood would be a good idea.
