alexthegreat00
This is definately a random thread, but what was the best pyro-related deal that you ever got at a garage sale? I got a practically new butane torch for $2 once. (I won a bet with my brother that paid for the fuel too.) I got a gallon jug of elmers glue for making casings for $1.50 too. As incredible as that all sounds (jk), somebody must have made some awesome deal that made your day.

guntoteninfadel
I got an old but really nice atlas wood lathe for shell formers etc for 10.00. I would have paid A LOT more than that if the guy would have delivered, lol.
dagabu
I got a 58" Green Iguana along with a huge glass faced cage for free in 2002. Five years later I gave her (Alice) away to another Iguana owner for free. The darn thing stunk!!! -dag
Mumbles
My best pyro find was probably a meat grinder and ceramic heater for a drying box for $3 total.
NightHawkInLight
I've been on the lookout for a meat grinder. So far I think my favorite pyro buy was a bottle jack juicer for $10. Perfect for comets or star plates. http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/gg199/NightHawkInLight/th_NorwalkJuicer004.jpg Edited August 4, 2011 by NightHawkInLight

guntoteninfadel
4 magnesium wheels for $25 (68 lbs mg) Stupid question..... thats not some mg alloy? Correction, what I want to ask is will that really work? I have several aluminum and a magnesium rim that are bent. Can I really make my own MgAl with rims?!?! oldguy
A lot of peaple get fooled by so called "MAG" wheels. Most often they are aluminum, with a very very small percent of Magnesium. If you know the percentage of the castings. How much Mg & how much Al is in the rims. You can. Test the rims with vinegar. Scratch one with a file & apply vinegar to the spot you filed. If it foams, it is a very high percent Mg.If it doesn't foam at all, its Al. I have a few nearly pure Mg ingots (98.7% Mg)I use slabs off those Mg ingots to adjust the percentages close 50/50.I admit, some guesswork is involved. But, so far so good.
