Experimental propellant

Recommended Posts

I like to experiment with different fuel ,oxidiser, catalyst and binder combinations for my rockets and like to go where no man has gone before so to speak :)

My latest concoction is a propellant which i named "the dominator" because it sounds 'kewl' and it has some interesting "dominating" properties.

It is quite flexible and moldable (like a putty) and can be hand pressed in tubes and fired in a endburner nozzleless configuration. (at least for small size rockets).

When completely dry it is very shock sensitive (KClO3 version) and has a extremely high burnrate but does not explode afaik.

It whistles too but the sound seems to be depending on certain parameters which i haven't fully identified yet.

Take a look at my video if you like and tell me what you think.

Also if anyone can guess what the `secret` fuel is that i used , please go ahead. :)

(hints are in the video description and in the comment section ^^ )

Resorcinol or some sort of phenolic resin would be my guess.

Does it ever harden though? Flexible fuels never really work right unfortunately.
