killforfood Posted July 3, 2011 Share Posted July 3, 2011 My Brothers finally talked me into helping them do some shows this week. I figured my first day would be just doing cleanup and digging holes but they threw some turnouts on me and stuffed a flare in my hand! It was a blast, literally! Everything is hand lit except the Rodeo opening ceremony that requires a timed launch of salutes and parachute flag to coincide with "The bombs bursting in air" and "our flag was still there". We did have a slight miss-hap two nights ago. During the mid-show, one of the 2.5 inch 36 count multi shot boxes blew off about a dozen shells all at once. They were all low breaks. All of the wood plugs were blown out and lying in the dirt under the box. My guess is that one of the shells flower potted, blew out its bottom plug and ignited the surrounding mortars. Surprisingly it behaved properly after that and the remaining shells fired in timed rapid succession. One more Rodeo show tonight and then we do the 4th in another nearby town.
