accidental crackling powder

The effect is highly different from other strobe compositions.

Unlike regular strobes; this mixture when made into a strobe pot for example bangs and snaps due to the dragon's eggs.

buy...unlike regular strobes, if made into strobe pots this mixture throws off mini-strobes. Some go 10-15 feet into the air..some go 2 feet from the original and they strobe themselves.

To put it in simple terms. This strobe mixture shoots off particles of itself. And, each particle then becomes itself a tiny strobe.

So, it is possible that from the one strobe pot you light you have flaming green strobing particles being projected in many directions.

also, you can make stars with them that explode into many other mini strobes.

also..it is cheap.

*caution..with this mixture you need to stay at least 5 metres away from it.

Interesting, thanks for the further explaination. You really should've explained the effect in the first instance because it started off looking like a pointless and dangerous way to achieve an effect which already exists.

Have you tried to replicate the effect without using shotgun shells? Not all of us have access to - or inclination to take apart - such items.

I then inserted one marble sized egg into the tube, added some whistle powder into the tube, attached a hot fuse [ falling leaves] glued some tissue paper to keep the egg from falling out, and....a "legal" [ I hope] firecracker.

Not so, all homemade fire works are considered 1.3g and are regulated by the BATFE.

I do suggest that you do some more reading and include the BATFE Orange Book in your collection.

EEEk..!

Thanks for your continuous advice upon looking out for me. I certainally do not want my 4th to have being escorted in a police car and being questioned at the police station, in regards to possessing and detonating an illegal explosive2ohmy.gif .

One thing, at the least, having platinum blond hair and green eyes may play in my favour as to being considered a terrorist. [ I think?unsure2.gif ].

Really, I and my girlfriends, intended to have a 4th of July beach party.

The beaches where I live are public.

My friends are not pryo hobbyists but do enjoy my displays.

Maybe "my creation" would have moved the 5 of us to a "different" party location.

So, we all are thankful.

I do not have that book. I shall ask one of my friends to go a Barnes and Nobles and pick up a copy. I am busy preparing my display.

Florida is quite strict with laws concerning fireworks. No aerials, bottle rockets of any size included, no roman candles, helicopters, firecrackers, and certainly [ as is law in all 50 states] the mere possession of over 50mg of any sort of flash powder is treated as a felony.

What is allowed are things like sparklers, fountains; even fountains that contain dragon's eggs...glare.gif , and that is about it.

My home is about 1/2 mile from the beach; It is upon a lot that is almost an acre and is rather isolated. Being located as such allows for me to get away with doing some things that would certainly attract the law in public. However even upon my property, secluded as it is, would attract the law if I used any type of ariel, and certainly any salutes! I do love the adrenaline rush from igniting my salutes. [i have an extremely powerful formula] However I reserve that for times when myfriends and I go hunting. But even there, I do take a chance since my salutes are, by far, louder than any 12 gauge shotgun firing. True, I know I take a risk, but our hobby itself is a risky one. It is a hobby that is unforgiving. Your first accident could quite easily be your last mistake. No matter how much caution you use; playing with fire makes you far more likely to get burned than a person who doesn't. Yes, many forest fires are the result of careless campers accidentally causing the blaze. But, many forest fires are the result of lightning strikes!

Most accidents regarding fireworks are due to carelessness, but sometimes accidents happen by some unknown accident. Please keep in mind that alcohol burns with a 1000°F flame. Fourth of July parties are often associated with drinking. If you are the one "running the show", keep that thought in mind!

Many of my other hobbies are also risky. But, what can I say? I am an adrenaline junkie.

Have a fun and happy time tomorrow; stay safe, and I wish you a happy "next" 4th of July.2smile.gif

I didn't know that alcohol burns with a flame of 1000F. Wow thats really hot! I have something for you to roast your wienners and marshmellows at your beach party. Take 3 parts of Fe203 with 1 part of bright AL. and mix well. Add a magnesium strip and light with a microtorch. Should make a nice toasty fire.

Hmm..?

I would imagine the same effects would/could be achieved by using smokeless double base gunpowder from a gun store.

I was referring to people outside the US - not everywhere has gun stores unfortunately.

I don't believe you have to join the website to get access to the book. In anycase, there is a direct PDF copy here for your enjoyment.

Now, the rest of this is getting out of control. Stay on topic (if there is even one left), or I am going on a deleting and vacation granting rampage. There will be more than one participant if anyone is curious.

Gunzway - Try at least being civil. If you take objection to something or someone, try to calmly explain it, and leave it at that. Flaming rarely does any good. You're really just fanning the flames on this whole situation. While it may work great with 13 year olds, when dealing with adults it just kind of makes you look like an asshole.

Anyka - You can pretend and say you have all the degrees, certifications, knowledge and accomplishments that you want, but no one really cares. The only thing people can go off of is what you show us and how you present yourself. Thus far we're seeing a number of clandestine procedures, gloating, and useless posts. While I am sure you have some knowledge, you're far too fond of your methods and everything you make. You may also want to slow down, and carefully re-read your posts. You've already made numerous mistakes involving chemical names. Most simply make your statements untrue, but chemical mistakes like these can lead to potentially dangerous advice/suggestions.

5 more posts unapproved, and two warnings handed out.

If Mumbles does the next round, I'm reasonably certain he will be more harsh than I.
