Skycastlefish
Hey guys, Up until I became interested in pyrotechnics, our workplace threw away a lot of card tubes. Now everyone saves them for me and I end up with 3 or 4 small tubes a week and one large tube about every week. These are very strong (I don't think I could break them with my body, I would need a tool.) I use the small ones for my smoke projects and they're perfect! I imagine the small tubes would be great for fountains as well. Go to town on this one! Tell me any and every way you would utilize these tubes if you had a near unlimited supply? Below are some pics and dimensions. Ralph
the small ones would make good mortars for mines would be a bit short for laughing shells from the long ones (depneding on diamiter) might be good for launching shells (that looks like 2.5" to me)
TYRONEEZEKIEL
You could sell them to me! Might that be a taylor guitar in the background?
TheEskimo
A true pyro: you only have 1-dollar bills Anyways, those look nice. I'm feeling several mine shots to herald a pair of girandolas, several racks of comets to provide a lull, wheels to provide an interlude, and a wall of fountains providing a base for a barrage of 3 inchers followed by several salutes. Twotails
I get the same tubes from my school! I go to a tech school, and the save the lage tubes (and small tubes) for me. they come from large rolls of plastic wrap, and aluminum foil. ant that is why I need not buy morters yet. I gots me a stockpile!
Mumbles
It sounds like you have the workings for a very nice 4" drawout shell. The smaller tubes might be okay for rockets or fountains. They'd make bottom shots for those smaller insert shells I was telling you how to make.
NightHawkInLight
You could sell them to me! Might that be a taylor guitar in the background?Sure does look like a Taylor. And a Washburn? The Taylors sure do play easy, but I like the sound of Martins and high end Gibsons better until you get into the 700+ series of Taylors. Ah and Takamine...All Koa, drooooool.... Anyhow, nice tubes
Skycastlefish
You could sell them to me! Might that be a taylor guitar in the background? Ha, yes that is a Taylor (314 grand auditorium.) I’ve had it for about 9 years and it still plays nice. That’s my roommate’s Washburn (nice eye, hawk) along with a 14 dollar thrift store gee-fiddle and a cheap banjo (music is my life.) I love the sound of Martins, especially when strumming. I play a Taylor because that what works for me, but I would enjoy life just as much with a Martin. Arthur
The 4" tubes will make good gerbes or fountains, they may be a little short for launching stars or inserts. The 18" tubes will make great mortar tubes for 2.5" shells or mines. They could be sawn to two tubes 9" long, for 2.5" mines, but full length they would do for multibreaks. Mumbles
Quick question. Are those diameters inner diameter or outer diameter.

Skycastlefish
You know this is a good forum because nobody has said "make a giant m-80!"

scarbelly
Don't diss on pyroguide. It's not really like that there...
Ralph
how many weeks was the only active topic about nuclear bombs
TYRONEEZEKIEL
He does have a bit of truth in what he says, there are alot more k3wls on pyroguide, but they are quelled pretty quick. The nuclear explosion lift was more a joke than anything, anyone with 2 brain cells to rub together would have picked up on it, provided they read. Pyroguide is a good place to start, but APC is far more helpful and proper. I would imagine passfire may be the next step.
Skycastlefish
He does have a bit of truth in what he says, there are alot more k3wls on pyroguide, but they are quelled pretty quick.Could someone please define k3wls? I'm presuming, based on context, that it refers to people who aren'treally educated in pyrotechnics but love making sketchy and dangerous makeshift explosives. Am I getting warm? Add acts of irresponsibility with those items to the list, and you've got a good picture of what a "kewl" is.
scarbelly
Skycastlefish: k3wls are basically people who like pyrotechnics for its ability to make bombs or bang producing explosives, rather than its artistic qualities. They often skip right to flash powder and make m-80s rather than making beautiful effects like fountains, aerial shells, or starmines. Ralph: That nuclear explosion as lift thread was begun, by me, as a joke and as a way to get people to actively participate in the forum after all of the information had been lost. In no way does anyone there intend to create a nuclear bomb. And also, if you look through the threads, there are very few (if any at all) about things such as flash powder or m-80s or bombs. All of the compositions are star, rocket propellants, or burst compositions, with the exception of one thread called "Bird Bangers", which was created in 2007.Now I admit, APC's rules about such talk are more strict, helping to avoid the occasional, inevitable k3wl. However, most people on pyroguide (especially at the moment) are not like that, and they have plenty of common sense.
Ventsi
Back on topic , would anyone here be interested in buying some paper tubes?I have an infinite supply of tubes from 1" ID to 3''. Different thicknesses etc. I would be giving these out , and the buyer could pay for shipping plus a buck or two for larger buys, basically free. I know I should post in the Agora but I'm not sure if people would be interested enough. If you are a PM would be nice, and if everything works out I'll make things official.
