jrin0630
I looking to make my first small batch of whistle mix to use a booster in my burst charges. I have Potassium Perchlorate and Sodium Benozate (both 325 mesh). I know the ratio is 70%-30%. Is there anything special that has to be done to mix them? Can they just be combined in a small container and gently shaken or stirred?
Ralph
the diaper mixing method is the safest way to mix sensitive and energetic mixtures this is done by taking a piece of paper and placing them two chemicals on it and kinf of folding (but not fully) it
stormyweathers
i would imagine it'd be necessary to use anti-static spray.
Sambo
You could also mix it wet, this is the usual way whistle is made for rockets. It can be easily granulated this way for use as your booster, this is your choice though, although some prefer it granulated to cut down the dust. Remember to store it in airtight containers, sodium benzoate is fairly hydroscopic.
