If you're posting stuff in another public forum, so will I. The formula you posted is in parenthesis.

KClO4.........................50 (49)
Parlon.........................15 (14)
CuO............................12 (12)
SrCO3...........................9 (10)
Red Gum.......................8 (10)
MgAl (325 mesh)............5 (5)
Just so you guys quit asking, here is the link to the old forum. http://www.xsorbit2....forum/index.cgi

The sky is my canvas, and I have 2,113 pounds of powdered paint in the workshop.

Exactly, it is an improvement and better and richer than the first (i'm sure it could still do some improving, I'm not saying it is perfect). It isnt the same, and thanks for posting it here, you should give it a go. I know what you are trying to prove, but you are wrong. Please PM me if you have any further problems.

If the forum you are talking about is passfire, I wouldnt really consider that a public forum, as I have to pay for it.

Hmmmmm. So TrueBlue, how much do you think Ventsi would appreciate you practically posting his formula verbatim on passfire as your own?

Ventsi? I am confused, have you got the right thread Mumbles?

I'm just saying give credit where credit is due. It's not my formula, so I really don't care, but I also don't want to see Yankie losing out on his hard work. I probably should have taken it up in private in retrospect. I'm well aware there is a non-negligible population that doesn't like me for one reason or another.

Thanks Swervedriver, I might have to add my silver to the list, its not bad. The rising comet of this shell is just some of the silver stars glued on top: http://www.youtube.c...re=channel_page
(the stars in the shell are not my silver, they are shit)
Do you think it is worth posting the formula?

Cool formula Yankie. Unfortunately I can't get as deep a purple as I would like but its still a pretty color. I have been experimenting replacing the MgAl with hexamine for the fuel and I have achieved some decent results. It might be worth a try to supplement the MgAl fuel with hexamine too to widen the flame envelope while still getting the nice color from the MgAl.
Haha very funny guys......no seriously....who has the detonator.

Yankie.... Likie!

Purple was a color I was having much trouble with, and this one seems to work very well. My earlier efforts always had a problem with ignition. Well done, and an easy formula to boot, nothing especially exotic.

I'd like to experiment a bit with the elimination of magnesium to see if it can be done. For many, magnalium is a kind of "limiting" chemical, typically harder to get than plain Al. But the color is beautiful. Thanks.
Charcoal is a preservative, by which the saltpetre and brimstone are made into gunpowder, by preventing the sulphur from suffocating the strong and windy exhalation of the nitre.

I just made up a kilo of the composition to try it out. I had to make a last minute substitution. It has 50g of Parlon, and 100g of Saran in it. I ran out of parlon at my manufacturing place. I have plenty elsewhere, it was just too late to get more. I guess it shows how often I use Parlon that I didn't realize I was almost out. I think it will be just fine, though maybe a little more to the red side of things, and faster burning from the higher temperature. I'm sure it will still be fine.

Could I use this formula also with KCLO3 instead of KCLO4? Or is it too dangerous (in combination with MgAl)?

Needed a yellow, so I substituted the CuO and SrCO3 for cryolite (Na3AlF6).

Formula for Yankie KP Yellow would be:

Color/Effect: Yellow

The Composition: (by weight)

KClO4.........................50
Parlon.........................15
Cryolite.......................21
Red Gum.......................8
MgAl (325 mesh)............5

Needs a better prime then Yankie KP Purple, meal is not enough. A thin layer of meal + MgAl does the job though.

I really like that purple too. I've been asking people for the last, I don't know, 3 months if I can pump/ram stars with this comp. Passfire, silence, here, nobody noticed, one last time. Can I pump this comp with a drift, sleeve, and mallet?

so long as the composition is dampened first yes if not you have a slightly sensitised than desensitised flash so no it would be bad to hit dry so either press it or dampen it
