Coloured drivers

Anybody have any good coloured driver comps? I'd like to add some colours to a wheel rather than only the usual gold/silver. Maybe some star formulas would work ok...

Skylighter published variations of colored rocket comps back in '02. The ubiquitous Ruby Red heads the list and Emerald Green can be made by substituting Barium Nitrate for the Strontium Nitrate. I use these two for star formulations and they do burn energeticly. The article also has blue and purple comps, but I've never tried the formulas.

I hope to test a small green driver maybe this weekend, as I do all my testing out of town. As for the red ,I don't currently have any strontium nitrate. Hunting season and then winter are fast approaching here, and time is short,so I won't be doing too much more this year.Maybe I should try and make a nice green and red Christmas wheel though...

I've gotta think you could use ANY star formula as driver fuel, if it's not energetic enough you can always choke it out i.e. use a smaller nozzle.

What about a special sort of driver tooling. It could use a small amount of endburning BP, the nozzle and then on the outside of the nozzle a star comp rammed for the color. Hmm..... that doesn't sound like it explains what I'm saying very well.

I've done that before... I was using a white pine driver (end burning obviously) for a wheel and it didn't make much sparks (nor did I have metal powders to add to it)

So I pumped a 3/8" comet and wrapped it in kraft paper, then taped it to the outside of the driver... So the driver spun and made some sparks, but the comet was pouring them out...
