Hey! Not bad for a 1"!! Was it ball or cylinder? Actually, for the newbies that are starting out, I know it seems counterintuitive but these smaller shells are actually tougher to get right! First and foremost, unless your black powder is insanely fast, you will have to "spike" your burst charge to get a decent break. Also I've also always had more problems with blind blown stars in small shells. OR maybe its just more noticeable because there are fewer stars in a small shell.

It was a cylinder, maybe 2” long.The burst was BP/ vitamin F bag. Wanted to heat things up before the pop. Lift was my BP.  Corned and graphite coated 3Fg. Hand rolled casing, chipboard base, wrapped visco fuse for timing, bottom ignition tube.
