brad224 Posted July 28 Posted July 28 timing was a little long for the inserts, and i should have tried a little higher lift, but in general i was happy with the way these inserts came out and lit up. IMG_3960.mov 2
Carbon796 Posted July 29 Posted July 29 Looked great ! If the shell was low, adjust that first. Then Insert timing if it's still not to your liking.
brad224 Posted July 31 Author Posted July 31 this weekend i’m going to try some timing tests in drilled holes in hand rolled paper tubes using the “glusatz” formula mix i picked up from an old post by Mumbles in a topic related to “beraq.” i mixed a small batch and burned some and it does show promise. IF i can get clean holes drilled in the paper tubes (easier said than done,) then i can get a thick slurry pushed into them and the burn will then be timed by the thickness of the tube, which can be easily adjusted by adding additional layers. what i need to develop first is a reliable way to test the burn time on the ground with a time video and a tripod without needing to build entire test inserts. i have high hopes (which will probably be dashed by reality and personal ‘in-exactitude’) but if it works like i want it to it should make fairly precise insert timing much easier to build and more reliable. the ultimate goal is to make the inserts come out from the burst in a circular pattern, and then ignite sequentially around the circle.

brad224 Posted August 5 Author Posted August 5 the rising tail was three 3/8” pressed winokur #20 stars hot glued to the bottom of the shell around the spolette, inside the lift cup.
