I test my stars , not strobe but explode

My bismuth trioxide is all most 10 yearsold.i have( 100gm +100gma+50gm) this type of packing, I used open packet which one I used 10 years ago. I think my bismuth trioxide in opened packet  expired.colour also different opend and sealed packet. Any suggestions

Your star must not have exploded

Rather it could have given extreme strobing sound (like waving flag or birds wings movement) or pop sound ( nearly same as crackling but not that much loud as in crackling effect.)

Remember stars behave differently in sky and ground so test star in shell /sky.

This is normal in flash phase of strobe stars.

If you test it in sky you will see the difference.

Crackling star effect and strobing effect have almost equal theory and in crackling tremendous heat is developed suddenly which causes Magnelium to explode.

I think bismuth is good.

Test it in sky.

Most of problem in india now a days is bad quality of magnelium due to price rising for raw material (magnesium).

I have bismuth trioxide that probably is 30 years old that works as new.

It should of course be stored dry but that goes for all pyro ingredients.
