Use a different charcoal and add some Fe2O3.

70% KClO4 / 30% charcoal is certainly also a good mixture.

You can also mix 70% KNO3 with 30% sugar and soak a string with a concentrated solution.

Could copper oxychloride be a substitute for the Fe2O3? I know that both of them are used in whistle fuel comps, and both of them are catalysts, so maybe the copper oxychloride would also work?

This topic been discussed recently.

Pyrogreezer have already posted visco formula and he has very vast experience In fuse making.

You must need goid quality bp ( hot charcoal )

For visco he mentioned blend of 70 percent 7F with 30 percent mead D.

As granulas burn faster ( propogative burning ) It could solve your problem.

Perchlorate based can be friction sensitive and impact sensitive.
