cmjlab
Those worked really well, I like how high the fountain appears to be spraying sparks and microstars. Is the height accomplished by nozzle diameter, tube sizes, or a more vigorous composition?
swapnilsutar1988
The tube height is 12 inch ,tube thickness is 1 inch, tube ID is 3 inch in which 3 inch clay is Filled in tube, nozzle is 1 inch diameter. For one fountain 500 gm black powder is weighted and 160 gm 2 mm sized stars are mixed in black powder black powder is not damped it is in dry form. Nozzle end is covered with masking tape and nozzle is filled with black powder from other side.Stars mixed with black powder is poured in tube and kraft paper disk of 3 inch diameter is pressed then dry clay is filled and using wooden dowel and hammer clay is rammed only 10 times or it can aslo be pressed but pressure must not be too high else stars inside will get crushed.Formula for black powder.Potassium nitrate(passed through 100 mesh screen) 6 kgSulphur 2 kgCharcoal (I used gum arabic tree charcoal as it is commercially available here) 2 kg.Composition is sieved three times with 40 mesh screen. abhivishw
Hey Swapnil, what is your source of PVC/Parlon?I couldnt find any options that source limited quantities online. For shellac, i can try using Gum arabic (dink) as an alternative.
swapnilsutar1988
Hey Swapnil, what is your source of PVC/Parlon?I couldnt find any options that source limited quantities online. For shellac, i can try using Gum arabic (dink) as an alternative. From sivakasi pyro hub of India. You can search local shops in your area. Meet fireworks manufacturers near you and ask them for chemical source.Gum arabic is only used for black powder type formulation as it is used in solution form and its solution becomes acidic over the time (perferably after 24 hours)You can use red gum instead of shellac or just avoid shellac from formula the result would be little bit pale. abhivishw
Thanks. Would you be instrested in selling limited quantities? Probably around few kgs. I think the regular manufacturers would only sell in bulk. Edited November 25 by abhivishw
