Tried the Pirotex comp above, but I didn't have PVC handy so I used Saran.  I ended up with a lovely violet as a loose powder.  I'm drying a few comets, so I'll try those tomorrow and post video.

Pirotex - seems like a lot of copper for a pink, was it supposed to be pink?  Saran shouldn't skew the color that much right?

Wow those were some beautiful shells! I just made some of the "Fuschia 2" comp from JOPETES. It's not fully dry yet but looks beautiful even burning on the ground. Gonna make a couple shells with it in the next few days.

Zumber I'm going to try your comp also soon. I wonder if it has enough parlon in it to be bound with acetone.

It has 300 gm dextrin I bound it with water.

If you are using parlon acetone binding system then its difficult to roll stars.

Either you need to pump or cut it.

Another thing is that acetone parlin makes star waterproof(most like plastic) and there might be problem during priming this plastic layer might be barrier between prime and star I have never tested though for rolled star but for comet mine star failed to ignite only prime burned.

For what its worth, one small change from ChrisH's formula I made was with the binding. I omitted the redgum and dextrin and replaced with 9% phenolic resin and used 2% denatured alcohol as the solvent for pumping the stars.

Hmmm....2% evoprate faster? Or need a little more?

I use 2-3% on all resin bound colors when pumping stars with good results, 3-5% if charcoal is involved (e.g. resin bound glitter). Usually stick with Dextrin/SGRS with charcoal based comps (C6, TT, Willow and glitters).

Dump comp in a ziplock freezer bag, add D.A., hand kneed mixture in bag and screen twice through a 10 mesh screen to distribute the solvent. Seems like a little, but presses well and turns rock hard in a few hours.

Saran how many meshes did you use for the nx color

I use the saran as it comes from the supplier (very fine), I don't mill it any further unless it happens to be in a recipe that has another chemical needing to be milled (then I mill every ingredient together that isn't metal or impact sensitive together).
