Spider shell first attempt

It looked plenty good as is !

I generally prefer the traditional charcoal/lamp spiderweb stars. To ti/al augmented ones, they just don't look as clean, usually. The Ti or Al lingers too long and makes it look messy. Which may be some of what you're seeing. The ti or al is still hanging around after the stars have burnt out.

What was the comp ?

How much booster was in the flash bag ?

I dunno..it’s kinda more ‘spider-y”. The burst was nice. Launch clean... yer on the track!

Using C6 as the base it would probably be slightly faster. And spiderweb as the base, would be a little faster still.

3/4" stars for a 4" spiderweb shell are on the large size. Which will also add to their duration. 1/2" is the generally recommended size for a 4" spiderweb shell. This will also increase the star density.

Looked good to me as well. I thought the stars burned out about right time. Smaller would work too though. Experimentation is one of the most fun parts of this.

One thing I've noticed is that the breaks look a little cleaner with pumped stars instead of cut stars. The slightly more regular shape seems to keep them on a straighter trajectory. I generally stack them around the wall of the shell, so the more regular placement may also help with that. The center area is filled with polverone or a mix of BP and polverone. All the extra gas from that might make the burst a little harder too.

I'm with Carbon, and tend to use all charcoal stars for these kind of shells. Just personal preference.
