Glass jar with metal lid -the lid is a corrosion risk.

Plastic jar with plastic lid perfectly OK for most chems.

Just make VERY certain that your containers look different from any food container. Label the jars to indicate contents.

5gal buckets, cheap, durable, don't shatter/break easily.

Unless it’ll dissolve/disintegrate plastic ( not too much affects HDPE) use plastic. If for no other reason than it won’t break :D

It cringe at this question, I would never store composition in glass, and would hesitate using glass period because if the worst happens it becomes shrapnel...

Also read an interesting take screw lids as a potential point of friction ignition

I would never store the chems in glass jar. Unfortunately it will break if you drop it accidentally. imagine jar full of dark Al/airfloat C/Antimany trisulphide/barium chems you have dropped in your work shop! . You will think twice to store chems in jars after you clean up the spill. Plastic bucket with tight lids is best to store. Label it store oxidiser, fuel and metals seperately to avoid any accidental contamination
