Hidden Shipping charges

I really don't like some of the supplier sites that make you complete an order before letting you know what the shipping charges are going to be. The last one I went to actually stated that they would email me AFTER I completed my order (complete with credit card number) to inform me of the shipping charges. This is crap

Shipping is going up almost every day it seems. And wait till the truckers take a few days off in a couple weeks.

My spice/rub shipments for a “small” USPS priority box have went up $2 in the last year.

I decided to try ordering pre-cut end disks instead of cutting them by hand. At a site other than what I talked about above, I ordered 20 of each 3-1/2" with a center hole and 3-1/2" solid. They wanted $23.00 for shipping! That is insane! It's not like paper disks are subject to a HAZMAT fee

Businesses just don't feel bad about ripping people off anymore on shipping.. It's really quite sad. I have cut ties with many businesses over the last couple years.

As someone who twists wrenches and ships parts, it's easy to see when you're being had. I paid more to have 30 rocket tubes sent me then I charge to ship out 12 pounds of metal. I'm done helping people rip me off.

Also: If I can't get a shipping quote with just my State, City, Address and zip... No dice. Fact is, anything more than a zip is bull. Your not getting my name and credit info for a shipping quote. Had my fill long ago. Not going back.

Oh yeah, Those paper disks? the total for them was $12.00.... than they want $23.00 for shipping? Screw That!! Unless I can find a supplier that isn't trying to rip me off, I guess I'm just going to have to go back to hand cutting them

Three words: Allpax gasket cutter. Enough said.

I see most of these say " for gasket materials up to -3/4 Inch thick ". In your experience, how thick will it cut for harder end disk materials?

They cut ramboard and 120pt chipboard fine.

An Allpax will cut the disks, you just find the disk material. In Florida we use ThermoPly which is basically an 8x4 sheet of 1/8" chipboard for like $12.

Even though I have an allpax cutter, I still prefer to buy disks. Or have them made. About the only time I really use it. Is for oddball sized disks that I may need at the moment. Or, to modify existing ones for multibreaks.

shipping sucks to deal with, i use priority mail and try to use the boxes they provide for free because the majority of the time its cheaper to use priority over ground and has insurance provided not to mention it gets there way faster.Charcoal is bulky nasty stuff to bag/box and ship. the closest fedex or ups is over a hour drive away one way. I even use a commercial shipping company for reduced costs and only charge their rate yet some people(a small number) act like its too high, as if i can ship it for less. Its only going to get worse
