I was wondering where you guys get your paper ball shell casings?

I really liked cannonfuse and fireworks cookbook for shells but what about you guys?

I've bought from both, with good experiences in terms of quality, delivery speed, and customer service. But compare prices. For example, just looking at 3" paper ball shells: CF is selling 5-packs for USD$2.79 ($5.58/10-pack) and FWC is selling 10-packs for $4. Pyrocreations is selling 4-packs for $2.75. Most give discounts if you buy in quantity.

So you've gotta shop around, and also compare shipping costs. If it's an add-on purchase that doesn't much/at all change the shipping costs on an order you're going to place anyways, sometimes it's worth it to pay a slightly higher price to get some tossed into the box. Same with tubes, etc...

Didn't look earlier, but like Memo says: nice hemis from Caleb. And for comparison sake to earlier price-checks, his are cheapest of the 4 dealers scanned today at $3.50 for a 10-pack of 3" paper hemis).

Poke around and you'll find what you're looking for at competitive pricing...and check shipping, of course (hemis get bulky and rocket tubes are heavy...).

Sadly, shipping costs are thee authority in my decision making. Getting down right ridiculous.

XMax, I'm not familiar with anyone who stocks nested hemis anymore. I checked Precocious Pyrotechnics, who used to be a source, but was instead visually assaulted by their new catalog. They no longer carry them as far as I saw. Even as of a few years ago most of the sizes were out of stock.

Obtaining paper hemisphere is a problem at this part of the World also. So.....I had to find alternatives.

1) Make your own. It takes time but when practiced that saves something. Initially you may start with newspaper hemispheres and when graduated with the technique buy some good quality craft paper & make plenty of them store and use sparingly.

2) Another idea is you may use kids plastic balls unless you find a good source for puchasing hemispheres or don't wont to learn the making technique. But in this case you need to mind the burst charge.

The point I live by is to remain self dependent as far I can.

Delayed reply but thought it might help.

Pyrodirect, located in PA. has a good selection of hemis, tubes, etc. Fast shipping and reasonable prices. I buy alot of stuff there and have never been disappointed, yet.
