Mumbles Posted July 17, 2019 Share Posted July 17, 2019 I'm case anyone hadn't heard, Jim Freeman passed away earlier this week. Jim was a true fixture in the community. Jim was a past PGI president, a 6 time grandmaster, a constant competitor, and longtime voice and announcer of PGI competitions. On a more personal level, he was a longtime Wisconsin pyrotechnic arts guild member whom I got to know quite well. Jim was one of the nicest people you could ever hope to meet. I'm proud to be able to call him a mentor and a friend. His enthusiasm, advice, and kindness was one of the things that helped me recover from my accident a few years after his. Many of his shells helped to inspire My own. I'm looking forward to a very fitting tribute in the future, and hope I'm able to contribute my deepest condolences. My thoughts go out to his wife Kathy and his family. pyrokid Posted July 18, 2019 Share Posted July 18, 2019 One time at a lighters shoot I saw a guy adding lift charges to shells and I walked up and started asking him questions and we talked for 10 or so minutes. He was very patient in answering my simple questions and sharing his knowledge. As he was packing up the shells to bring to the field I asked him his name, and he said "Jim."
