waterglass

some onesaid to use waterglass when coating card board tubes to make them last. i think mumbles said both waterglass and calcium carbenate. what is the formula for the two.

Yep, the link mumbles posted is the method I followed.

 

It appears to have worked very well, but I've never tested it.

I tried this on my first mortar tube. It fireproofs the cardboard and helps with moisture resistance. But, I will tell you that cardboard is not the way to go for good, long-lasting mortar tubes. Mine blew apart after about a dozen launches. Thick-walled HDPE is the way to go.

i made a 6 tube rack out of cardboard i have used them before with no waterglass and the lasted till i left them in the rain. i have a lot of hdpe tubes. they just cost so damn much to ship them and pay import tax it double the cost. i have not been able to find any here. still looking, but intill then .................
