Welding to MMO anode

I recently got myself an MMO anode from laserred on ebay. It seems like a pretty good quality and I'm looking forward to start constructing my cell soon. I would like to add 3 - 4 inches of a titanium strip to the mesh so I can hang it from the side of my cell.

I've read online that when bare titanium is used as a anode, it passivates and creates an oxide layer which blocks current from flowing through it after a while. Would welding a titanium tab onto a mmo titanium anode still cause this effect, or should I not be worried about it? If so, how should I go about handling this issue?

Also sort of offtopic but related... If I cut the mmo mesh into small pieces it should still work as intended even with the bare titanium exposed on the sides correct?

Any help is appreciated, thanks :)

Titanium is fine for electrode hangers. Spot welding is a perfectly OK way of joining MMO to Ti electrode hangers. If you cut the MMO then the exposed Ti metal will not do the chlorate production but will be passivated The MMO coated Ti will be fine. Titanium is a poor electrical conductor so use more than you would use of copper!
