Metal Strobe

To produce this is a very risky procedure for me to speak at the moment because the components have to be fused in an inert atmosphere at a highly controlled temperature. Almost every solid has its melting point before the ignition point (except AP that evaporates). If I find a safer way to produce this I'll post it here. For now I'm just doing small tests that I'll post ok?

Is your goal to produce a wire-like strobe sparkler? It is a interesting concept . Outside of the testing phase what goals do you have with this material . ?

Very intriguing being waterproof. Im assuming a NC laq being the binder? In my past experience with AP strobes using large mesh metal produces the slow , but hard to light material( for stars , it is a PITA) , lit on the ground it is stunning . I had the same problem with crackle , being finicky in stars but on the ground like mines or cracker balls , it is super loud .

AP don't melt, diferent of the others salts.No NC lacquer. There are several utilits tha can use the Metal strobe. one of them is to use with star cores of long duration at 20 mesh to use in waterfalls bombs

(the video was a short duration efect) and us with e rod commum waterfalls. To use with camp's signal ,and sea's signal. Please give me all more ideas about use it .Thanks Edited by kleberrios

you are almost rjght. The 3 topcs are diferent compositions.There is no secret in the formula but for security I will not post here, if you want you can post but remember that there are children who participate in this forum, I think kind of risky.The basic compositions was modifiqued and i used 3 metals Magnalium 600/2000 mesh Mg atomized 200mesh and Al flake 400 mesh, Sulfur, 500 mesh Strontium nitrate and 500 mesh Barium Nitrate. On first post I cover a rod magnesium, in the second post I roled the mass and I made a small rod (very dificult to make this) at third video a use a small grain. I worked at 200ºC

No binder, compact, hard grain with hight burn time, no solid residue, water proof, hight light. The process is simple, only smelting the compositions at controled temperature. The compositions at some moment become almost liquid an some seconds become plastic, and can be hand molded, in some seconds the gum become hard. Some rocks can be made and can be break at small meshs to long time star cores

Have you played with adjusting the flash rate any yet? A little faster would be the start of a great star core.

To accelerate is the easiest, just add something that is combustible and melts together with the composition and of course, something that helps to deepen the color. The good thing is that the grain cores are inert, and will not be dissolved by solvents or water, and will never rust because the plastification of the grain by the sulfur plus the flake alloy stearin isolated the oxidation, since what oxidizes the metals is the presence of water, plus sulfur forming sulfuric acid in the presence of oxygen. They will be eternal strobs. Hence my idea of also making small stroboscopic flags for use in camping, railroad rod, nautical flags etc.or at 40 mesh grain to use in small long rang shell 1 pol . Each 1 pol shell will fit about 300 grains coating black powder, each grain will flash several times at high altitude.

A pyrotechnic composition which is characterized by a series of intermittent detonations when ignited comprising sulfur, potassium nitrate and powdered aluminum wherein the range in ratio by weight of the sulfur to the total of the potassium nitrate and aluminum is between approximately 5:4 and 13:4.

2. The composition of claim 1 in which the range in ratio by weight of the potassium nitrate to the aluminum is between 5:3 and 1:2.

What about the burnrate of this strobe in the air? Do you have some experience? I had problems with low frequent strobes to keep burning, while flying through the air. Most of the comps I tried blow blind by just falling down. With strobestars the cooling effect of an airflow is an issue that seems to be problematic.
