I wonder if I can use acid or iodine to test whether the paste I have is vinyl or starch based?? Don't know how vinyl reacts to either of those. 



EDIT: Found the answer on YouTube and it is vinyl based. No change with iodine. Rats.

DOUGH! I have been buying book binding supplies from Talas for decades and never looked for Wheat Paste!
