viziers
Mumbles, If this has been covered or is in the wrong section please move. I just figured that I would makethis thread for others like me who are unfamilliar with do's and dont's of ball milling comps. Well anyways I thought I would start a topic on the times needed to ball mill comps say for "example" Tiger Tails you would ballmill the Charcoal and Sulfur and Dxtrin for say 10 hours.. Mumbles
The thing with times is that it all is dependant on your mil and materialsl. A highly efficient mill, such as the one on passfire or in Lloyd's book would take 4 hours for black powder, charcoal streamers, grinding any chemical, etc. Say 2 hours for something like rocket fuel. However a hobby rock tumbler may take 10-12 hours for BP and charcoal streamers. It also depends on your materials. If they start off flour fine and with a good charcoal you may not need as long of a time, but if you're using prilled KNO3 and commerical airfloat it might need an extra hour or two. PyroMan LTU
Hello. Can some one please count with the ballmill calculator optimal and critical rpm for me? jar from inoxia: http://www.inoxia.co.uk/rw/product/72.aspxdiameter: inner - 100mm, out 103mmmedia 22mm shots, lead. Thank you! PyroMan LTU
Mumbles
98 rpm, but you are going to want to go with smaller media. It is far too large for that jar and will not be in anyway efficient. The rule of thumb is about 1/8th the jar diameter, so you will want to go with something on the order of 11-12mm. With proper media, the optimal speed is 92rpm.
